Remembrance Day 2022

1

In preparation for their Remembrance Day service, the children have been creating poppy artwork to show on Friday’s service, we have learned about the different colours of poppies and what each of them mean. I am incredibly proud of the children’s maturity whilst learning about Remembrance. Well done Rowan Class.

Forest Schools 🌲

Within Forest Schools today, we were completing the 1 minute challenge. The children had 1 minute to complete a range of tasks with their blocks including a house, bridge and tower. The children were working in teams and needed to show cooperation and resilience. Mrs Hallam was very impressed with their kindness and friendship.

Personal Identity

Within PSHE this week, we were learning about Personal Identity and how important it is that we are all special and unique. We were discussing the different components that determine our personal identity and what makes us different to each other. We then created Personal Identity hoodies where we illustrated our own personal identity including hobbies, interests and family.

Forest School Tower Building

This half term in Forest Schools, we are developing our team work skills. This week the children were given the task to build the tallest tower using natural resources in just 10 minutes. They needed to work together to collect resources and to assemble their towers. It was incredibly difficult to choose the tallest one as they all were very impressive and unique. 🌲

Health Related Exercise πŸƒπŸΌβ€β™€οΈ πŸƒπŸΌβ€β™‚οΈ

As part of our PE programme this half term we have been focusing on health related exercise. This week we worked in teams to complete a continuous run. The children had 7 minutes to see how many lengths of the field they could complete in teams. I was amazed by their team work and resilience. Well done Rowan Class πŸ™ŒπŸ€©

French

With Mrs Hallam this week, we have been recapping French greetings including hello, how are you? and my name is.

The children then began to learn and practise family members in French including sisters, brothers, grandma and grandfather. We really enjoyed our French lesson and can’t wait for next week!

Discrimination

Within our PSHE lesson, we were learning about discrimination  and what it means. We discussed the importance of treating everyone with respect despite religion, race, gender or disabilities. The children then were given 4 different scenarios, we then discussed ideas about what we would do if we were in those situations. I was extremely impressed with your kindness and maturity about this topic. ⭐️

Dodgeball

On Tuesday afternoon, we loved having Jack in to teach us some new dodgeball skills, we practised blocking, long throws and the speed of our ball throwing. The children then incorporated these into a game situation playing against 3 other teams. Well done Rowan Class, amazing team work! ⭐️

Gender Stereotypes

As part of our PSHE session, we were focusing on gender stereotypes in the work place. We discussed how regardless of our gender we can do a range of jobs and should be treated equally. We then drew lots of stereotypical gender jobs and broke the stigma including female builders, male dancers and female farmers. The children were incredibly mature and were keen to discuss their personal views on the stereotypes we may still find today.
